Getting into your lab is straightforward. This article covers how to launch a lab for the first time, restart one in progress, and repeat a completed lab for additional practice.
How do I start a lab for the first time?
- Log in to your Skill Labs account.
- Select the lab you want to complete.
- Click Start Lab. Your environment will launch automatically.
Note: If the Start button isn't visible, try double-clicking the divider on the screen. This resets the layout to center and should reveal the Start button.
How do I restart or reset a lab I'm already in?
- Click Restart Lab to reset your environment and start the lab from the beginning.
- If your lab has persistent errors that don't go away after restarting, use the Erase and Start Over option:
- Click Erase and Start Over at the bottom of the screen.
- When prompted, select all virtual machines to erase.
- In the confirmation box, type the word ERASE and click Yes, I want to erase the selected VMs.
Note: Erase and Start Over permanently deletes all activities and data from the virtual machines. You will need to complete the lab from scratch. Use this only when standard restarts have not resolved the issue.
Can I repeat a lab I've already completed?
Yes. You can repeat any lab as many times as you like for practice or review. Simply click Restart Lab to reset your environment.
- If your lab includes Challenge Flags, any flag you have already correctly captured does not need to be captured again.
- Repeating a lab for practice purposes will not negatively impact your scores.
Are labs persistent between sessions?
No. Skill Labs environments are not persistent. Any files, settings, or changes you make in the lab will not be saved once you close the lab or your session ends. Each time you open the lab, it resets to its original state.
Note: Because of this, it is important to complete the lab in one sitting rather than across separate sessions where possible.
